Mission to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - 2020

This year the CCHS Missions Team went on a mission trip to Pittsburgh, PA. Groups within the team worked with the Pittsburgh Project as well as several other ministries in the city of Pittsburgh to serve meals, help build community, and learn how to be the practical hands of Christ! The team also went to Camp Christian to help the staff do some general grounds cleanup. To finish the week, the team helped prepare some groundwork for some upcoming and ongoing projects here at the Center.

We worked with the Pittsburgh Project on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday we cleaned up a community garden plot, worked with an after-school program, and made soup for a nearby inner-city soup kitchen. On Tuesday we made a meal with brownies for dessert and served it at the Perry Plaza Senior Center. While there we served the meal, visited with the residents there, played a trivia game with them, and gave them gifts. Then our worship team lead them in worship. Afterwards we performed a skit, shared scripture, and prayed with the residents. To finish the day we deep cleaned the Pittsburgh Project's commercial-sized kitchen and dining room.

On Wednesday we worked with World Vision where we finished assembling hygiene kits, checked cases of umbrellas and recounted them, and sorted and counted school supplies.

On Thursday we helped the staff at Camp Christian rake leaves, clean out the pool, pick up sticks, move fallen trees, and clean the outdoor chapel.

On Friday we helped set the boundary stakes for the new gymnasium and walking track at CCS.
