My Brother's Crown by Mindy Starns Clark and Leslie Gould

Do you know what a Huguenot is? How familiar are you with 17th century French church history? This Christian historical fiction novel brings all this to light in an interesting and personal way. The novel weaves together a modern day woman and her ancestor from France as the reader is introduced to this time of persecution of the Protestant church. Even King Louis XIV and the Palace of Versailles is mentioned as the characters travel to Paris. I love when I can learn something new and this novel made this period in history come to life in a unique way.

Sir Dalton is such a Knight, but he questions whether he truly believes in the King's Code and his Son.

The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner

The Boxcar Children is the first book in a series of an engaging, classic mystery/adventure series. Originally published in 1924, this book and later the series that followed has touched generations of children and continues to be a compelling read today.

Four orphaned children, Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny Alden get permission to stay at a bakery but run away after hearing the baker’s wife say she will keep the oldest three children but send the youngest, Benny, to an orphanage. They create a home for themselves in an abandoned boxcar in the forest. Their goal is to stay together, but run into difficulties in the process of trying to make a life for themselves. Lady Jayne Disappears by Joanna Davidson Politano

Pick out a great book at the Center's library and enjoy!
One I recommend is entitled Lady Jayne Disappears by Joanna Davidson Politano. Set in England in the 1860's this Christian historical fiction mystery is engaging. There are plot twists, interesting characters and a love story. The heroine of the book has just lost her father, who has died in debtor's prison. She moves to a well- to-do relative's house and must finish the book he had been writing. While she is there she tries to solve the mystery of her missing mother. Our heroine has a strong faith in God to see her through her struggles and the author does a great job allowing the reader to experience this along with the character. This book was just written last year and I look forward to more from the author. It will be available to be borrowed in the next few weeks!
