The House of Winslow series by Gilbert Morris

If you are tired of ‘binge-watching’ and are ready to ‘binge-read’, try ‘The House of Winslow’ series by Gilbert Morris. Our library has volume 1 through at least volume 23 of this easy to read, engaging, Christian historical fiction series. The books trail the Winslow family through generations of American history, depicting key moments from the eyes of the characters experiencing them firsthand. It’s a great journey from the Mayflower, to the start of the United States, to the Civil War and into the first World War and beyond. Try them- you will like them!

The Russians Series by Michael Phillips and Judith Pella

If you are curious about Russian history, this historical Christian fiction series is for you! We have all seven books of the series in our library. The books follow two families from the time of the czars and peasants to the rise of Lenin. In the first book of the series entitled, The Crown and The Crucible, the reader is introduced to a faithful peasant girl working in the palace in St. Petersburg. She meets a spoiled princess and exerts a transforming influence over her as revolution is brewing in their beloved Russia.

I WILL be a Doctor by Dorothy Clarke Wilson

Elizabeth Blackwell, a spunky and very determined young lady who pursued her desire to become a physician to conclusion. Elizabeth was very impudent as a child and was raised very strictly by her Aunt Bar. Her father felt education of his daughters was extremely important, even though frowned upon for the times. John Wesley, the Methodist, had inspired her father that "one man shouldn't own another" which seemed to agitate the owner of a sugar refinery (a business that used colony slaves).

Charles Spurgeon by Kathy Triggs

The boy preacher of the Fens, Charles Spurgeon, had matured both physically and spiritually from a family of noted preachers and continued to leave a legacy of holiness and righteousness into the generations. His inspiring insights into scripture and his deep love for Christ propelled him and his clear voice into a very large congregation. He is remembered with both love and respect, even by those who had differences of opinions. Charles was born in Kelvedon, Essex, June 19th, 1834.
